I am campaigning for the County Legislature 10th district in Manlius to bring a sense of urgency for long term planning to county government.We, the residents of Onondaga County are suffering, in large part,due to poor planning by the county government over the past 50 years.County government has provided knee-jerk solutions to long term problems that require conscientious planning.We need a comprehensive economic plan that will maintain property taxes at present levels or lower,increase the county tax base,develop a business friendly environment and family friendly residential development and communities.
The costs for maintaining and improving the county's physical infrastucture,public safety,education,and roads, to name just a few will most assuredly continue to rise. We must determine how we want to look as a county and what we as a county want to become and prepare and execute a plan to get there. Otherwise we will continue to make hodge-podge decisions from one fiscal year to another just to tread water.
I have more than 40 years of public service experience,including 27 years military service and small business ownership in Fayetteville. I am currently a Manlius democrat committee person(33rd ED),a member of the Onondaga County Democrat Executive Committee and a Judicial Delegate.I will bring planning experience, leadership and vision to the legislature that will help return Onondaga County to the vibrant economic region it once was.
We, in Onondaga County, need a change in thinking that reflects the needs of our constituents not the wants of party leadership and special interests. We need fairminded leadership and vision. I will provide both.
